Decoration of Christmas Tree project organized by Leo Club of La Salle Klang

On 23rd December 2009, Leos from Leo Club of Sam Tet had attended a Christmas Tree Decoration project organized by Leo Club of La Salle Klang. They were given a task to complete that is decorated the Christmas tree with cans and bottles. All the Leos agreed to take up that challenge as it was also a good way to promote the concept of going green. Our vice president, Leo Chea Kiat Heong lead a team and did their best in this event. All of them worked hard and cooperate with each other to complete the task. Besides, they also cleaned up the Anbesivam Home for charity as well as celebrate a joyful Christmas with them. Such a great job and team spirit from the Sam Tet team.

Leo Cabinet Installation

On 19th December 2009, Leos from Leo Club of Sam Tet had attended the Leo Cabinet Installation held at Heritage Hotel, Ipoh. The newly formed Leo Cabinet marked another milestone of success in our district as all the cabinet officers were installed. The theme for this event is quite special, that is, "SHANGHAI NITE".
The installation started at 8.00p.m after the registration. There was a special guest from Phillipines, Leo Daryl Patrick Ruiz who came all the way from Manila to attend this meaningful installation. After the arrival of Lions, Lioness and Guest of Honour, the meeting was called to order by DC Lion Alan at 8.30p.m. Next was the flag salutation, Leo pledge leaded by Leo Cheng Kok Sheng and the Lion Spirit.
There was a multimedia presentation after the dinner. It was all about the newly formed Leo Cabinet. After the multimedia presentation, Leo Cheng Weng Siong was invited to deliver his speech. Then the installation started. All the Leo Cabinet Officers were installed and they promised to perform their duties with full responsibility. Leo Cabinet President, Leo Eliza Chia was then invited to give her speech.

After the speech from Leo Eliza, our DC Lion Alan was invited to give his speech and express his feeling after all the cabinet officers were installed. Leo Daryl, District 301-A2 Leo Cabinet president was also invited to share the projects and events they done at Manila. Next was the exchange of souvernirs and presentation of momentoes. There was also a best dress competition after that.The meeting was adjourned at 10.30p.m.

Visit to Ipoh Ipoh Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals

ISPCA is a special center to take in abandoned cats and dogs. This visit was aimed to comprehend the life of those abandon animals. 10 Leos from our club were attended this meaningful visit. DC Lion Alan, RCC Lion Mary Goh and MD 301-A2 Leo Cabinet President, Leo Daryl Patrick Ruiz also joined this visit.
First, the worker gave a briefing to us about how they take care of those dogs and cats and they hope to find some warm hearted people to sponsor their daily expenses. There are many abandoned cats and dogs at the center. We also helped them to clean up the compound around the center and painted the door. Besides, we also donated RM150 to them.

Charity Home Hopping Ipoh Leg


On 18th December 2009, Leo Club of Anderson had organized a meaningful community service project called “Charity Home Hopping”. Leos from Leo Club of Sam Tet also take part in this project to serve the community.

Leo Daniel Kok, Leo Pou Jun Siang and Leo Mah Chee Kuan formed a team with RCC for region 4,Lion Mary Goh to take part in this project. They were given tips about the destination from the organizer and they need to think of it to get the answer. The first destination was NKF dialysis center at Pasir Puteh. They went there and listened to the briefing from the worker at the center. After that they were required to complete some quiz about NKF.
After that they were required to decorate the cupcakes and sell them to the public for RM5/each!
Then they were given a list and they must buy those items using the profit earned by selling cupcakes.
The third stop is “ Rumah Sejahtera Jelapang”. They were given a duty to clean up the old folks home so that they can pass the mission.
Next stop is precious home and they were there to play with the children and teach them to sing “Rasa Sayang”. After that they were given a tips “Tunku Abdul Rahman” and the final stop, Praise Girl’s Home was located at Taman Merdeka. At last, our team managed to get there first and walk away with RM500 to do their community project.

District 308-B2 Leo Camp

On 4th December 2009 to 6th December 2009, 10 Leos from Leo Club of Sam Tet participated in the Leo Camp held at White Resort, Penang. There were so many meaningful programmes in this camp such as cooking competition, workshop, jungle trekking, team building games, seminar, and fellowship night Leo day.

On 4th December, all the Leos were divided into different teams and there was an ice breaking session for us to communicate with each other. Then it was the workshop by DC Lion Alan, he talked about his experience being a Leo, the importance of teamwork and played some games with us. There was also a cooking competition on the first day where it was the most interesting part in the camp. All the teams were required to prepare 5 dishes to reach the minimum requirement of the competition. All the Leos cooperate with each other and showed their cooking abilities in this competition. The 3 honourable judges for this competition, Lion Alan, Lion Baki Zainal and Lion Ong were then went around and try the dishes prepared by each team. There was also a sketch discussion before sleep on the first day.
On the second day of the camp, we went for jungle trekking in the morning and have some interesting team building games. There was also a special seminar by Lion Baki Zainal about MCG2. During the fellowship night Leo day, each team were required to present a sketch with the title “Energize Growth”.
During the last day of the camp, we woke up early to do some exercises and take part in the station game. Then it was the closing ceremony. The best team, best male and female camper was announced on the closing ceremony. We had learned a lot of things in this camp such as the importance of teamwork, broken links and the ways to achieve our goals.
