Environment Talk

2 November ( Tuesday )- Leo Club of Sam Tet organized an environment talk at our school to raise up students their knowledge and enviroment awareness to save our mother nature earth and make a difference to prevent global warming together.
The speaker is our District Enviroment Chairperson Lion Anthony.Thus,President of Lions Club of Evergreen is our guest of honour on that day.

- This talk is specially for our form 3 students after their PMR school days. They could get new knowledge bout E.M ( Good Bacteria ) .

This is the photograph with Lion Anthony from Lion Club of Evergreen Ipoh.. We hope that we will having more meaningful projects wth them again.

It is an interesting and meaningful talk to all of us and we believe that this talk encouraged students to start go green and protect our earth from global warming to have a better future for our next generation.

Peace Poster Contest

6 October (Sunday)-Leo Club of Sam Tet help out in the Peace Poster Contest in Ipoh Parade.
It was a joint project organized by Lions Club of Kinta,Lions Club of Ipoh Greentown,Lions Club of Ipoh City,Lions Club of Ipoh Evergreen,Lions Club of Batu Gajah,Lions Club of Ipoh Central and our sponsoring lion club,Lions Club of Ipoh Host.
By the way,our beloved DG Lion Hudson Hah was our guest of honour on that day.

Region4 Joint Projects at Day Break Centre

On the 25 September 2010, total of 11 Leos included BOD and members from Leo Club of Sam Tet had attended the Region4 Joint Projects with Poi Lam High School at Day Break Centre .

On that day, we sell plant to visitors. we try our best to sell out the plants.

Another games is prepared for another stall , and there was a ' starwars ' presence in our photograph session.

We are enjoy during the projects. The main point is we enabled to help out at day break to find some funds for them with Leo Club of Poi Lam High School. We serve our best ! Stronger than Before!

Heart to Heart

In a memorable day, 8 september 2010, our club have organised a project with the title "1 Day-Children’s Camp – Heart To Heart'' for the children from 3 Orphanages & 1 Home from single family in Ipoh.This project held at Elim Gospel hall .These children deserve our love & care. So, we tend to Make a Difference to motivate these children, make their determination toward life Stronger Than Before.

This project start with some warm up by teacher . After that, they distributed to few groups. Each group carried by two teacher . There are many meaningful programs for them. As an example, dressing with newspaper , talk , experiment and games .

Lastly, there was a photography session for us with orphanages, lions, and all the visitors . We hope that the orphanages will happy always and learn many things from this projects.

FAREWELL CELEBRATION 2010

In a very memorable morning of 4 September 2010, our club organized the Farewell Celebration for the outgoing board of directors fiscal year 09/10. This is a great effort by the Organizing Chairperson, Leo Jeffrey Cheah and the organizing committees (form3) to appreciate the contribution of outgoing BODs in club. 13 outgoing BODs and many members (50 Leos) had supported this celebration.

The farewell was started with the National Anthem, Lion Spirit and Leo Pledge led by the Leo President Vincent Liew. Next is the address by the Faculty Advisor, Mr Henry Soon and Immediate Past President, Leo Daniel Kok. In speech of our faculty advisor, he expressed his sincere gratitude to all the outgoing BODs for their hard work and support in every project and activities. He hope that everyone will take them as the role model so that we all can do better and lead the club to a greater height. In speech of IPP Leo Daniel Kok, he said that teamwork and unity are very important to the road of success. Because of these, our club had a chance to win numerous awards during Leo Forum this year such as Outstanding Club, Outstanding President, Top Vice President, Outstanding Secretary & Treasurer, Top Directors, Top Member, Top Project and much more. The speech of our club president also stated that we all would stand here or have the achievement today without the involvement of outgoing BODs in club.

After the opening ceremony, we had a interesting programme to kick start the farewell. There was a singing performance with the song "We Are The World". This song implied a big and special meaning as it is the spirit of all the leos in Leo Club of Sam Tet. Here we are going to share some lyrics in the song and hope you can understand it well ..............

The next programme is the games session. This was very encouraging to foster a better ties among each other. We all played happily and our bodies also became dirty too (you can see the photo below). Games, games, games, it was totally fun as all of us just joined without the feeling of shy.

After that, the delicious caterer was waiting for us. All of us chat with each other to share some experiences in the lunch time. The outgoing BODs also thanked Mr Henry Soon for his support and guidance in making the club such systematic.

After around 3 hours, the farewell had came to an end. Souvenir Presentation hope all the outgoing BODs can always remember the moment serving in the club. Once a Leo, Always a Lion, their spirit will not end here and they feel glad that they had a happy moment in club.

The Farewell Celebration for outgoing board of directors 09/10 is coming soon on this saturday. This event is organized annually to celebrate and appreciate the services and contribution of Outgoing BODs to the club throughout the years serving in Leo Club of Sam Tet. Without you all, this farewell would not be a success and our club definitely would not have the achievement today. 31st Perak Leo Clubs Joint Installation

After a few months of planning and hardwork, all the Leo Clubs Region 4 & 5 successfully organized the 31st Perak Leo Clubs Joint Installation. On the beginning of April, 13 incoming board of directors had been elected to lead the club for fiscal year 2010/2011. But so fast now, they all were installed as the official Board of Directors fiscal year 10/11 in the event of Joint Installation.

On 22 August 2010, 31st Joint Installation were held at the Tower Regency Hotel. The event kicked start at 11am sharp. We were very honour to have the District Governor Hudson Hah as the special guest for this event. As one of the organizing clubs, we fully supported this event by having the attendance of 20 of our club leos. Besides, this was also our pleasure to have our sponsoring Lions Club president, Lion Kannasen as well as School Faculty Advisor, Mr Henry Soon to attend too.

There were several interesting programmes such as the multimedia presentation, the performance by Region 4 Leo Idol Champion Queenie Ooi and so on. The most important part of the event was the installation ceremony that conducted by District Chairperson Alan Thoo.

Help Out in the upcoming Ipoh StarWalk 2010

Ipoh Starwalk ranked tops in the council’s local agenda to make Ipoh a clean, green and developed city. It is a major tourist attraction in the city. Year after year, people come here from all over Malaysia and even Singapore to take part in the event.
Ipoh Starwalk 2010, which will be flagged off from 7am, is jointly organised by Star Publi-cations and the council with the co-operation of the Perak Government, Perak Amateur Athletics Association and Perak Education Department in conjunction with Ipoh city’s 22nd anniversary.

Venue : Stadium Ipoh
Those who complete the walk within 100 minutes will be eligible for a lucky contest that offers attractive prizes.

It is our pleasure to offer our help in this event. 50 LEOS from our club will be on duty that day and serve to make the event a success. Leolympics 1st Day : Badminton & Ping Pong

This was the first day of Leolympics 2010. After conducted the opening ceremony to launch the games today, all badminton and ping pong matches were started. The matches were divided into single and doubles. Many Leo Clubs like SMI, Sam Tet, Anderson, SM Poi Lam, Yuk Choy, AMC, SIS, Ipoh Unity were present today. We were so glad to have Vice District Governor Lion Hudson Hah to be our guest of honour today and had a friendly match with leos too.The presence of DC Lion Alan Thoo and RCC Lion Mary Goh made the event more interesting.

Happy Chinese New Year 2010

Chinese New Year or Spring Festival is the most important of the traditional Chinese holidays. It is sometimes called the "Lunar New Year" by English speakers. The festival traditionally begins on the first day of the first month (Chinese: 正月; pinyin: zhēng yuè) in the Chinese calendar and ends on the 15th; this day is called Lantern Festival. Chinese New Year's Eve is known as chú xī. It literally means "Year-pass Eve".

Chinese New Year is the longest and most important festivity in the Lunar Calendar. The origin of Chinese New Year is itself centuries old and gains significance because of several myths and traditions. Ancient Chinese New Year is a reflection on how the people behaved and what they believed in the most.

Chinese New Year is celebrated in countries and territories with significant Han Chinese populations, such as Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau, Singapore, Taiwan, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Thailand. Chinese New Year is considered a major holiday for the Chinese and has had influence on the new year celebrations of its geographic neighbors, as well as cultures with whom the Chinese have had extensive interaction. These include Koreans (Seollal), Tibetans and Bhutanese (Losar), Mongolians (Tsagaan Sar), Vietnamese (Tết), and formerly the Japanese before 1873 (Oshogatsu).

In countries such as Australia, Canada and the United States, although Chinese New Year is not an official holiday, many ethnic Chinese hold large celebrations and Australia Post, Canada Post, and the US Postal Service issue New Year's themed stamps.

Within China, regional customs and traditions concerning the celebration of the Chinese new year vary widely. People will pour out their money to buy presents, decoration, material, food, and clothing. It is also the tradition that every family thoroughly cleans the house to sweep away any ill-fortune in hopes to make way for good incoming luck. Windows and doors will be decorated with red colour paper-cuts and couplets with popular themes of “happiness”, “wealth”, and “longevity”. On the Eve of Chinese New Year, supper is a feast with families. Food will include such items as pigs, ducks, chicken and sweet delicacies. The family will end the night with firecrackers. Early the next morning, children will greet their parents by wishing them a healthy and happy new year, and receive money in red paper envelopes. The Chinese New Year tradition is a great way to reconcile forgetting all grudges, and sincerely wish peace and happiness for everyone.

1st IPOH CHARITY RIDE

It is the 1st charity ride co-organized by a group of kind hearted and dedicated Kledang Cyclists Ipoh and Leo Club of Sam Tet. The aim of it is to serve the community, to promote the importance of going green and keeping our environment clean .Our main focus is to bring happiness to old folks home and orphanage . We Ride , We Serve is our slogan. Around 40 professional cyclists and 15 Leos were present that day. We were very honour to have RCC Lion Mary Goh, District Leo Cabinet President, Leo Eliza Chia as well as representatives from Leo Club of Ipoh Unity for joining this meaningful project with us. On that day morning, we all gathered at the starting point (Pertubuhan Meningkat Akhlak Chi Pee Seah) and had a short briefing by Vice Organizing Chairperson, Leo Henry Lam. Our first pit stop for this charity project was Yayasan Latihan Insan Istimewa Ipoh. All cyclists started their journey happily. We spent around half an hour there. We distributed some mandarin oranges, angpau as well as water containers to them. Although this was the first charity project carried out by Kledang Cyclists, they managed to do their best and cooperate with Leo Club of Sam Tet. We ended our visit there by donating a total cash of RM1000 to the Home and successfully brought the happiness to them.

Next, we proceed to the Pusat Jagaan Our Ideal Home that is located in Kampung Simee. The journey from our first pit stop to there was 8m. We had to thanks a lot for the protection and helping of the Superbikes through all the journey. As like just now, we had a chance to distribute some chinese new year foods and the most special was the old folks there welcomed us happily by singing a Christian song for us. We also took the chance to chat with them and wished eveyone with Happy Chinese New Year.

The third pit stop was The Home For The Aged Simee which just located nearby the second pit stop.It is a Non-Profit Organization serving the elder generation or our society. The Home is opened to all poor, homeless and abandoned elderly folks of all races and religion. We decided to spend around 2 hours there as at present 53 residents staying there. We gave angpau, mandarin oranges and some food to them. Although it was just a little gift from us, the old folks felt happy because we celebrated Chinese New Year with them this year. The cyclists had showed their caring to the old folks well by chatting and entertaining them.

After travelled along 15km journey, we had a rest by having our lunch at HD World near Jusco. We had the best lunch buffet there.(everything is the best when we are hungry. Hahahahah)

After that, we proceed to the Hannah Home. This was the last pit stop before we back to the starting point. There was around 30 kids there. Sadly, we found that there was an orphans which just 3 years old. We distributed all the gifts to them and took a few of group photo.Alfred, organizing chairperson from Kledang Cyclists had led the cyclists well by having some fun with the orphans.

Finally, it came to the end after travelled along 20km for this charity project. We donated a total cash of RM3500 to Pertubuhan Meningkat Akhlak Chi Pee Seah as well as had a memorable and happy ending.

We Ride, We Serve.

Visit and Donation of RM1500 to Joyful Home & Vision Home

The visit was co-organized by Leo Club of Sam Tet and Kledang Cyclists Group, Ipoh. First, we proceed to Vision Home as our first destination. 5 Leos from Leo Club of Sam Tet that led by Leo President Daniel Kok and accompanied by RCC Lion Mary Goh as well as representatives from Kledang Cyclists Group were present. We gave the water containers to each orphans there as a gift of Chinese New Year. All of these are greatly sponsored by a kind-hearted company and prepared by the Kledang Cyclists. Besides, each orphans also had a chance to get angpau and thus, we successfully brought the happiness to them. Before we left, we donated RM500 to Vision Home for their expenses in life.

After that, we had another visit to Joyful Home. As like the situation just now, each orphans got an angpau and a free water container. In addition, Leo Club of Sam Tet and Kledang Cyclists also prepared a lot of new stationary for the orphans in studies. They thanked us very much and wished Happy Chinese New Year to us. We spent around half an hour there. Finally, we donated a total cash of RM1000 to Joyful Home and had a happy meaningful ending. The cooperation of Leo Club of Sam Tet and Kledang Cyclists had indicated well our club slogan “ WE SERVE OUR BEST, NOTHING LIKE THE REST ”.

Family Food Fair Day on 25.4.2010

The Home For The Aged (CWS) Simee is a Non-Profit Organization serving the elder generation of our society. It is run by the Caring Ministry of the Catholic Welfare Services Malaysia, with support from the Bishop of Penang.

The Home is open to all poor, homeless and abandoned elderly folks of all races and religion. All residents in the Home stay free of charge. The Home is maintained and run on the charity of the community. At present 53 residents staying there are provided with a bed, daily meals and recreational facilities like TV in a comfortable sitting room, medical attention and hospital referrals when needed. They are all taken care of by dedicated and full-time staff, with regular visits by the Honorary Medical Consultant.

The Home and the services it provides require money to run. Donors have always been generous, but sometimes the Home runs short of funds. Occasionally, they organize activities like Family Day Food Fair to raise additional funds. The previous Food Fairs (the last was held in 2008) have always been well supported by their friends and associates and they hope this Food Fair will be as successful. There will be many different kinds of foods and other items for sale, all donated by the supporters who set up the stalls.

Family Day Food Fair will be opened by the Home’s Patron Yang Bahagia Dato Chang Ko Youn at 9am. Tax exempt receipts will be issued for donations of RM100 and above. Donations of every RM500 will be given 3 complimentary books of coupons. Sale of food and other items will be by coupons only. The coupons are priced at RM10 per book.

The Home is one of the stopovers of our mega project “1st IPOH CHARITY RIDE”. If you are interested to support them by donating in cash or buying the coupons, please kindly contact us for more details.

1st Charity Ride

What is 1st Ipoh Charity Ride?

It is the 1st charity ride organized by a group of kind hearted and dedicated cyclists of Ipoh and the Leo Club of Sam Tet .

What is the aim of 1st ICR?

The aim of it is to serve the community , to promote the importance of going green and keeping our environment clean .Our main focus is to bring happiness to old folks home and orphanage . We Ride , We Serve is our slogan .

What is the concept of this 1st ICR?

All mountain and road bike cyclists are welcomed .We will be cycling around Ipoh to the selected few old folks home and orphanage . We will pay them a visit and we will also contribute some mandarin oranges , rice , Milo, Nescafe and so on to them . We wanted to bring happiness to them during this Chinese New Year season .Our slogan : We Ride , We Serve.

When ,Where and what time will it be ?

On the 7th of February the route has been shown at the map below. We'll gather at the starting point at 7.30 am and will start our journey at 8 am sharp. The journey will be about 18 km.

What we need ?

We need you and your bike to be on that meaningful day . We need your contribution no matter in terms of goods or cash .

On 23rd December 2009, Leos from Leo Club of Sam Tet had attended a Christmas Tree Decoration project organized by Leo Club of La Salle Klang. They were given a task to complete that is decorated the Christmas tree with cans and bottles. All the Leos agreed to take up that challenge as it was also a good way to promote the concept of going green. Our vice president, Leo Chea Kiat Heong lead a team and did their best in this event. Leo Cabinet Installation

On 19th December 2009, Leos from Leo Club of Sam Tet had attended the Leo Cabinet Installation held at Heritage Hotel, Ipoh. The newly formed Leo Cabinet marked another milestone of success in our district as all the cabinet officers were installed. The theme for this event is quite special, that is, "SHANGHAI NITE".
The installation started at 8.00p.m after the registration. There was a special guest from Phillipines, Leo Daryl Patrick Ruiz who came all the way from Manila to attend this meaningful installation. After the arrival of Lions, Lioness and Guest of Honour, the meeting was called to order by DC Lion Alan at 8.30p.m. Next was the flag salutation, Leo pledge leaded by Leo Cheng Kok Sheng and the Lion Spirit.
There was a multimedia presentation after the dinner. It was all about the newly formed Leo Cabinet. After the multimedia presentation, Leo Cheng Weng Siong was invited to deliver his speech. Then the installation started. All the Leo Cabinet Officers were installed and they promised to perform their duties with full responsibility. Leo Cabinet President, Leo Eliza Chia was then invited to give her speech.

After the speech from Leo Eliza, our DC Lion Alan was invited to give his speech and express his feeling after all the cabinet officers were installed. Leo Daryl, District 301-A2 Leo Cabinet president was also invited to share the projects and events they done at Manila. Next was the exchange of souvernirs and presentation of momentoes. There was also a best dress competition after that.The meeting was adjourned at 10.30p.m.

Visit to Ipoh Ipoh Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals

ISPCA is a special center to take in abandoned cats and dogs. This visit was aimed to comprehend the life of those abandon animals. 10 Leos from our club were attended this meaningful visit. DC Lion Alan, RCC Lion Mary Goh and MD 301-A2 Leo Cabinet President, Leo Daryl Patrick Ruiz also joined this visit.
First, the worker gave a briefing to us about how they take care of those dogs and cats and they hope to find some warm hearted people to sponsor their daily expenses. There are many abandoned cats and dogs at the center. We also helped them to clean up the compound around the center and painted the door. Besides, we also donated RM150 to them.

Charity Home Hopping Ipoh Leg

On 18th December 2009, Leo Club of Anderson had organized a meaningful community service project called “Charity Home Hopping”. Leos from Leo Club of Sam Tet also take part in this project to serve the community.

Leo Daniel Kok, Leo Pou Jun Siang and Leo Mah Chee Kuan formed a team with RCC for region 4,Lion Mary Goh to take part in this project. They were given tips about the destination from the organizer and they need to think of it to get the answer. The first destination was NKF dialysis center at Pasir Puteh. They went there and listened to the briefing from the worker at the center. After that they were required to complete some quiz about NKF.
After that they were required to decorate the cupcakes and sell them to the public for RM5/each!
Then they were given a list and they must buy those items using the profit earned by selling cupcakes.
The third stop is “ Rumah Sejahtera Jelapang”. They were given a duty to clean up the old folks home so that they can pass the mission.
Next stop is precious home and they were there to play with the children and teach them to sing “Rasa Sayang”. After that they were given a tips “Tunku Abdul Rahman” and the final stop, Praise Girl’s Home was located at Taman Merdeka. At last, our team managed to get there first and walk away with RM500 to do their community project.

District 308-B2 Leo Camp

On 4th December 2009 to 6th December 2009, 10 Leos from Leo Club of Sam Tet participated in the Leo Camp held at White Resort, Penang. There were so many meaningful programmes in this camp such as cooking competition, workshop, jungle trekking, team building games, seminar, and fellowship night Leo day.

On 4th December, all the Leos were divided into different teams and there was an ice breaking session for us to communicate with each other. Then it was the workshop by DC Lion Alan, he talked about his experience being a Leo, the importance of teamwork and played some games with us. There was also a cooking competition on the first day where it was the most interesting part in the camp. All the teams were required to prepare 5 dishes to reach the minimum requirement of the competition. All the Leos cooperate with each other and showed their cooking abilities in this competition. The 3 honourable judges for this competition, Lion Alan, Lion Baki Zainal and Lion Ong were then went around and try the dishes prepared by each team. There was also a sketch discussion before sleep on the first day.
On the second day of the camp, we went for jungle trekking in the morning and have some interesting team building games. There was also a special seminar by Lion Baki Zainal about MCG2. During the fellowship night Leo day, each team were required to present a sketch with the title “Energize Growth”.
During the last day of the camp, we woke up early to do some exercises and take part in the station game. Then it was the closing ceremony. The best team, best male and female camper was announced on the closing ceremony. We had learned a lot of things in this camp such as the importance of teamwork, broken links and the ways to achieve our goals.

After a week of hardwork, it came to the last day of the Eco Week that's our Regional Project- Cleaning of Sungai Kinta . Leos from Penang to Selangor and also Region 4 were attended this meaninful project. 4 Celebrities also co-founder of MCG2.com, Baki Zainal, Azizi, Dina & Soo Wincci came from KL to support us. DC Lion Alan & RCC of Region 4 Lion Mary Goh also came to support us.

ECO Week Day 5

It's came to the day 5 of our eco week, that's cleaning playground near Medan Selera Dato Tahwil Azar. Leos had did a short survey to find out a most suitable playground. Leos started their task once everyone reached. Leos took 3 hours to clean this playground and it's now became an attraction to those kids to play.

Today we had Baki Zainal from 8TV also the founder of Malaysian Celebrities Go Green (MCG2) host a seminar about MAKING A DIFFERENCE to the form 3 students of SMJK Sam Tet. Teacher & students were entertained by his way to present besides could expand their range of knowledge after such a meaningful seminar. ECO Week Official Launch !

As the 1st day of ECO Week, Leo Club of Sam Tet launced it at 10.15 am. We decided to clean the roads around Jalan Dato Tahwil Azar, Jalan Theatre, Jalan Raja Muza Aziz & Jalan Mustapha Al-bakri once the ceremony end. Leos took almost 3 hours to clean those roads and unclog the drains. We'll continue tomorrow as Baki Zainal the founder of Malaysian Celebrities Go Green (MCG2) will present and to host a seminar about MAKING A DIFFERENCE to the form 3 students of SMJK Sam Tet.

Mourn for Leo James Khor

He who has gone, so we but cherish his memory, abides with us, more potent, nay, more present than the living man.

A tragedy has struck Kampar on the 1st of November, James Khor Wan Kai, 20 a University Tunku Abdul Rahman undergraduate drowned after swept away by strong current at the Batu Berangkai waterfalls. He was a Leo from Chung Ling and also a Leo of Penang City. He was a Top Alpha Secretary too.

Life is not measured by the breaths we take but by the moments that take our breath away.
So, do cherish everyone besides you now before too late.

May you rest in peace.

ECO Week

On the upcoming November, our club planned to organize a mega scaled project in conjunction with the theme of GO GREEN which has recently been advocated. Our main objective is to deepen the actual meaning of GO Green among the students and create awareness of environmental activities. We decided to organize from 2 of Nov to 8 Nov 2009 and below are the events which we wanted to carry out during the whole week.

2th November (Monday) :
Leo members along with all of the Board of Directors will be cleaning on the selected roads. Its not only sweeping the lane but also unclog the drain of the road too. Leos could experience as MBI workers to clean the roads full with rubbish threw by the citizens.

3th November (Tuesday) :
We are honoured to have Baki Zainal from 8TV also the founder of Malaysian Celebrities Go Green (MCG2) will be present at the event and to host a seminar about MAKING A DIFFERENCE to the form 3 students of SMJK Sam Tet. This is specially to organize to instill the awareness on environmental issues amongst the younger one as they could learn by going green.

4th November (Wednesday) :
An Eco-quiz will be organize in our school and it is open to all of the students in SMJK Sam Tet. Questions prepared is related to environmental issues which we are facing nowadays.

5th November (Thursday) :
Cleaning of school compound and recycled materials by Board of Directors and members under the teacher's supervision. recycled materials such as false-printed papers, boxes, books, newspapers, glasses and bottles will be collected.

6th November (Friday) :
Leos had selected a suitable playground and carry out some cleaning works at there by unclog drains, collecting rubbish and cutting grass.

7th November (Saturday) :
Major project ' A Greener Environment, A Better Generation ' organize by Leo Club of Sam Tet. A series of entertainments and programmes which are related to environmental issues are included. Also our 30th Perak Joint Installation that postponed will be held in conjunction with the event. So Leos, your attendance are compulsory.

8th November (Sunday) :
Regional project by cleaning areas of Sungai Kinta, Perak. It involves 15 Leo Clubs in Region 4 to join this meaningful event. They are SMJK Sam Tet, SMJK Yuk Kwan, SMK St.Bernadette's Convent, SMJK Poi Lam, SMK Jln Pasir Putih, SMJK Yuk Choy, SMJK Shing Chung, SMK Anderson, SMK Idris Shah, SMJK Ave Maria Convent, SMK St.Michael's Institution, Poi Lam High School, SMK Sultan Ahmad Shah, SMJK Pei Yuan and Ipoh Unity (O). It will be guided by representative from the Jabatan Pengairan Saliran. Our DC Lion Alan and RCC Lion Mary Goh will be attending to support us too.

There are a few simple tips that everyone can follow at house besides recycling.

-An easy one. Turn off your lights when you are not using them. The benefits are obvious.
-Turn off your computer completely at night.
-Pay bills online.If every house did this then we would save 18 million trees every year.
-Don't take baths, take showers. You will in average save about half the amount of water that you would if you were taking a bath.
-Use cloth napkins daily instead of paper.
-Five-minute showers – make it a goal for yourself. Every minute you cut from your shower is roughly 5 gallons of water. The less time your shower takes, the lower your impact on the environment

All you need is have your 1st step and you'll found that its not that hard to go green. Together we fulfil a very important role to save our environment from being extinct. From today onwards, do your bit for the environment by changing some basic practises at home. Save money, time and the planet.

Joint Project With Lions Clubs

On the 18 Oct, our club were invited to help out at SJK (C) Chung Shan for the Peace Poster Drawing Competition organized by the 7 Lions Clubs: Lions Club of Ipoh Host, Lions Club of Batu Gajah, Lions Club of Ipoh Central, Lions Club of Ipoh City, Lions Club of Kinta, Lions Club of Evergreen and Lions Club of Ipoh Greentown. This was strongly recommended by our RCC Lion Mary Goh. Also along to help out was Leo Club of AMC, Leo Club of Anderson & Leo Club of Poi Lam High. It's not sarcasm as Leo Club of Sam Tet came with a total of 15 person included BOD & members immersed to form a huge team and gave a good cooperate during their duties. ' The Power of Peace ' was the theme for the contest and the OC, Lion Bibi Lam from Ipoh Central wanted to bring out a concept of that we should united for a better tomorrow and peaceful world. DG Lion Chong Kwei Looi, Vice DG Lion Hudson Hah and 7 Lions Clubs' President also joined the event. Total of 65 contestant taking part in the contest and only 5 consolation prizes & 1st, 2nd, 3rd prizes were available.

1 Day School Service

On the 2nd Oct, our School Service Chairperson, Leo Tan Chin Guan did a great job at school with servicing our school for a whole day. Leos started with helping out for the blessing ceremony at our school hall. Next, Leos were helping teacher to arrange tables for PMR candidates. Besides that, Leos were cleaning the examination hall too. With the cooperate of BODs & members, it took us approximately 2 hours to complete it. Students could easily score during exam, when the environment is clean. We continued with cleaning our school language lab. Students from afternoon session were glad that they can use a unblemished room. Well, this really worth though it's exhausted. Last but not least, a big applause to Leos and thank you for willing to service at school.

Donation To Abang Shafie

Shafie Mustaffa, 30+, lives with wife and 3 schooling kids aged 4, 11 & 12 in Langkawi, Kedah. He used to be a staff in Westin Langkawi @ the In-room service apartment. Early this year, Shafie constantly had fever and always felt tired and had body aches. It was then learned that he had Hepatitis B that attacked his liver with cancer @ stage 2!!! He has had half his liver and glad bladder cut off to sustain his life.

Currently, after his operations that cost a big bomb... he still has to go to Kedah Medical Centre once a month to get his medication which cost Abg Shafie about RM700+ a month. There was a night when Abg Shafie tried to lift a chair and it hurt him so much that the management has decided that he should stay home to rest and recover. Even so, Westin places high respect and care for its staff... they still pay for his medical needs.

Leo Club of Sam Tet donated RM 200 to help Abang Shafie for his living and medical expenses.

3 Oct- Visit to Joyful Home

On the 3rd Oct 2009,our club organized a visit to Joyful Home, an orphanage for the abused, abandoned, orphans and underprivileged children. DC Lion Alan Thoo & RCC Lion Mary Goh also attended the visit. Lion Alan sponsored 19 lanterns totalling approximately RM98.00 and our club sponsored 10 boxes of moon cakes to the home to bring cheer and joy to them. They wish to extend their compound as they insufficient of space for out door activities. A great successful visit organized by our Social Service Chairperson, Leo Boo Jun Hong once again.

Strategies For Exam Preparation

After a period of learning, students would normally be scheduled for an examination. In our education system, students usually are subjects to tremendous pressure because of the public examinations. Many students face a lot of pressure during this time. Apart from them, their school teachers, tuition teachers, principal, schools and parents too experience the same.

In actual fact, though examinations are an important part of the education system, it is not the ultimate goal of education. If you have tried your best but still fail to obtain a good results, you should not condemn yourself. We have to understand that every examination follows certain scopes, objectives and systems. They may at time be more advantageous for certain students. Understanding them can help us to do better in the examination.

Sometimes we do not do well in exams due to some disadvantages or external factors beyond our control. For instance, if your hands are very agile, and you are able to write many words within a short time, then it will give you an edge during exam. Otherwise, you may lose many marks due to the lack of time.

However, so long as you have tried your best, the results will be secondary.

Good Preparation, Good Results

Most importantly, students must work hard on a regular basis. When facing public exams, it would be to your advantage if you start preparing earlier. It would not help if you try to get ready at the last minute.

Few months before the exam, students should start adjusting their study timetable. During the period, your study schedule should be more intensive. However, you should not have to high expectation about yourself from the start, as this could easily lead you to exhaustion and cause you to quit studying. You should make adjustments gradually and try not to cause too much pressure on yourself (not to be lazy though !). This continues until it peaks one month before the exam.

Your revision should follow certain plans and strategies. First of all, you should organize all your revision materials, and arrange your schedule according to the time you have and the importance of these materials.This to avoid situations (shortly before exams) where you realize some important topics have not been covered, while too much time has been used on the unimportant ones. I believe your teachers would be able to assist you in this matter.

You should pay more attention to those subjects you do not usually do well. First of all, attempt all the question that you are confident of answering and scoring high. Then try the harder parts. But you have to treat ever subject equally.

Having Exam Tomorrow

At the final stage of preparation, students normally experience intense pressure and anxiety, especially with regards to subjects they are weak in. During this time, students will feel as if they have not finished reading certain subjects. So they will burn the midnight oil in order to read a few more pages. This is actually very unwise. Just think, how could you focus on your exam the following day if you have exhausted yourself the previous night ? During the exam period, students should try to relax themselves, and allow their minds to stay fresh and alert. If you have prepared earlier, you should have completed all your revision by then. You not only need to revise by skimming and speed-reading some important points and organising your mind. Your objectives this time should not be learning anything new, but should focus on a quick revision of the topics learnt previously. The purpose is to allow some important details to be imprinted clearly in your mind.

If you maintain good rest and sleep, you would naturally have a more active and agile mind during the exam.

During Examination

Your performance during the exam is very important.

During this time, your teachers and friends would not be able to assist you, and you are on your own. Here, i can only provide you some good advice.

Many students tend to attempt questions involving writing without carefully thinking about the topic selected. Due to exam tension and fear of not having enough time, many try to write as much as they can without proper thinking and planning. This is not an effective way of attempting exam questions. First of all, students should read the question carefully, and try to understand what the question is about. There are usually 3 types of questions: expository, argumentative and descriptive.

In answering questions, it is best to draft the main points, organise them and then write out the answer. Higher marks will of course be awarded to answers which are relevant and well organised. (As human beings, examiners will naturally be pleased to award you with better marks if your answers are clear or coherent.) Therefore, it is a waste of time to write something irrelevant as it will not help you to gain any marks.

In answering multiple-choice questions, you should first go for thoes questions you know well. Questions which you are not very sure of the answers should be attempted last. You should not waste your time on these questions but quickly garner as many marks as you can from the easier ones. When facing tough questions, you should first eliminate those answers which are obviously wrong, in order to focus your attention only on possible answers. When you are not sure, do not simply change your existing answr. The first impression is usually more accurate.

Multiple-choice questions are either too tricky or too easy. Therefore it is very important to read the questions carefully. Nevertheless, the question format usually does not change very much. It would be very helpful if you could do more past year exam papers.

Whenever you have any doubts druing the exam, you should not be shy to put your hands and obtain clarification from the examiner. After all, examiners are obliged to assist you in this.

Stay calm and do not allow the tensed atmosphere in the exam hall to affect you. Students who are calm during the exams usually perform better.

' 1 Malaysia ' was launched by our Prime Minister, Dato' Seri Najib with a goal to preserve and enhance this unity in diversity which has always been our strength and remains our best hope for the future.

This what Leos heard from Leo Fan Sui Wan and his team mates, as his Team A immersed as the champion of the friendly match organized by Leo Club of Ipoh Unity.In his team also came along with Leo Sophia Lee from Leo Club of SBC & Leo Tan Wu Jen from Leo Club of Ipoh Unity.They won with the total marks of 401.Each winner was given a RM 10 cash voucher of The Coffee Bean. Team D's with Leos from Leo Club of Sam Tet, Leo Chea Kiat Heong, Leo Ho Yik Hong & Leo Yeap Kar Haw was only lose of 10 marks. This been the heat up for Team D as they wanted to challenge for the second round with Team A at the next Leolympics.The event ended at 1pm.Through this event, we get to interact with Alpha & Omega Leos and gain more experiences.So, we'll look forward to our Leolympic ya !

Farewell For Ms Carman Lu

On the 26th of September, our School Service Chairperson,Leo Tan Chin Guan organized a farewell gathering at MP Steamboat Restaurant for our schools teacher, Ms Carman Lu. Ms. Carman taught us Chinese at SMJK Sam Tet as probationary teacher for 3 months. She will be leaving Ipoh next month to Sarawak, her hometown and teach there. She put a lots of efforts ,erergy and time for us. She's a nice teacher & very dedicated when teaching despite she's just graduate. Besides Leos, students are invited to join the event too. Everyone were very reluctant with her leaving. We gave her a card along with everyone's blessing to her.

Joint Visit to House For the Specials, Kampar 19/9

On the 19th September 2009 , our Social Service Chairperson, Leo Boo Jun Hong organized a joint visit with Leo Club of Pei Yuan & Leo Club of ACS Kampar to House For The Specials at Kampar.We're glad DG Lion Choong Kwei Loi joined us during the visit. House For The Specials having their main problem with not enough of spaces, their compound are only enough for 20 patients for physiotherapy.It can't accommodate too much patients as Leos went there, Leos were crowded the whole compound. Overall our OC did a great job and made this visit a success.

On the 16 of Aug, Leo Club of Sam Tet had been invited by Leo Club of Yuk Choy to taking part in their joint visit to Vision Home.This the 1st time Leo Club of Yuk Choy organized a visit, overall it's a great visit that every Leo should participate.

Vision Home aka Rumah Wawasan, is a foster home for the underprivileged, destitute, abused, abandoned and orphaned children.Vision home aimed to help children of all ages & races who are without parents or next kin who can take care of them and often times referred to as orphans. Abused, abandoned, neglected by parents who are in themselves in need of help due to illness, old age or other serious circumstances.

There are many ways you can help their Home such as :

donating in cash or in kind
sponsoring a child
visiting the home
tutoring the children
invite the children for a meal
take the children for an outing
buying food and educational items
sponsor a child financially for one year
sponsor for a year's rental
celebrate your birthdays and other special days with the children

On the 12 July 2009 8 Lions Clubs & Ipoh Super Biker Team organized a ' LIONS JOURNEY 4 SIGHT '.Leo Club of Sam Tet, Leo Club of A.M.C. & Leo Club of SMI were invited to join the event. The main aim of this event is to raise funds for the ' Rumah Orang Buta Ipoh '. Lions & Leos arrived by 7.30 am at Dataran MBI, Greentown.Leos were helping out to pack those goodies bag for the one who take part.Soon, our BOD started with some stretching before we start our walk, conducted by Lion Kanasen.We're glad with the fully support from M.B.I., Ipoh & Malaysia Royal Police. Then, we're all given a eye mask to take a 4km walk around the Ipoh city.The one who covered their eyes will assist by the uncover one.We get a great experiences from this journey despite it was only a short distance.

There's a few tips for your eye exercises:

Move your eyeball up by looking at ceiling and bring it down and look at floor. Do this ten times. Blink fast to give rest to eyes.
Make circles with eyes in clockwise and anti-clockwise manner. Do it for 5 times.
Cup the eyes with palm for a minute and then slowly open and stare in darkness.

Of course, there's also something do not you should avoid :

Never put salt in your eyes.
Never look into the sun directly or with a telescope.
Never put sharp objects in your eyes.
Never rub your eyes too much.

Later, we went to Syuen Hotel and joined a health talk. There were 2 lecturer specialist in kidneys & heart. Both of them came from Singapore's Top Hospital, Mount Elizabeth Hospital. The talk is sponsored by their company, Parkway Health. The talk was almost 3 hours, and ended at 2.00 pm.Through this talk, Leos were given chance to more understand their health situation, latest medical & prevention.

It is such a tiring day.

It’s Father’s Day.
Well, today we’re not goanna discuss about it, but STARWALK.

Lol, here, the very first things I gonna to shout out all are those stuffs that make me feel uncomfortable.
Wake up at 4.00am. Suddenly my vice president msg me that do reached there at 0515. Then I replied back, “What la, I thought 0530. ****? Then he replied back, he’s there helping d. How embarrassed.
Secondly, when I reached there, all leo members sitting on the staircase enjoying McD. Early at 0515 eat McD will never feel good.
Thirdly, I can’t text to anyone. I don’t know why? Maybe there are too many peoples there.

Well, anyway the whole process is all pretty well managed except the hot SUN.

Always remember our leo’s motto, WE SERVE.
We can make complain, voice out those can’t get your satisfaction.
But, we still serve our best, nothing like the rest.

After a three days two nights forum in Penang, almost all of us became living zombie.
Ok, lets me explain why I use living zombie to describe us.

1.Our eyelid turn into BLACK color and our eye bags is huge enough to contain few liters of water.
2.Sore throat, our voice is so sexy.
3.Our eyes barely to open.
4.Our movement is so slow because we’re so tired.
5.Only slept for 3 hours per day.
6.While we’re standing, automatically we’ll fell to sleep.
Others than zombie, I can’t imagine others creature that can compare with us.

Anyway you know why we will became a zombie,
Because the forum is so COOL. ROCK. FUN and the weather is HOT.
Lol.

I wondering should I post this, but after a few minutes of deep view I decide to post this.
The hotel, which I would not like and willing to mention, remember and step in again in my entire life.
The hotel is perfect just except the water and electricity supply.
1.The very first time I bathed in the hotel, I put shampoo on my head and it makes me refresh again, at the moment, the water just run out. AHHH
2.In the night, thank GOD for water. After whole day of rushing and activities, I take a bathe in the night. Again, when I put the shampoo on my head, the electricity just runs out. DARK!
Can you imagine six fellos pack inside a room without electric supply? No AIR-CON!
Well, others than that, it’s perfect.

HAPPY TEACHER'S DAY

“Hey, do you all know when teacher’s day is?”
“Duh, there’re few months more la..”
“Wait. What’re we gonna give to our faculty advisor, Mr. Henry Soon?”
There’re plenty of suggestions but finally someone request,
“Why don’t we make a school building prototype?”
And all of us agree that brilliant idea and start our work since March.

Two months of hard work and finally we saw the result.

Once we step in the hall with the prototype on our hands, we heard "WOW" sound, scream and cheer. At that moment, i found out little lil secret, Mr. Henry Soon he smiles. Well, it's the first time i saw him smiles. So for me, it's a great achievement.

It’s such a great honor been invited for that function.
We had the precious opportunity to meet those Leos far away from Hong Kong.
They’re extremely friendly and gregarious. : )
Although they’re from different side of the earth, but they treat everyone just same as how they treat their own friend.
